  2.     Status Map
  3.     ----------

  5.     The Status Map helps you navigate among individual managed hosts
  6.     and/or pools on the network and it shows the status of each host and
  7.     /or pool. The latter is done thorough changes in the color and color
  8.     state (blinking or solid) of the icon for each host and /or pool.
  9.

  11.     The Status Map uses the following color scheme to show the current
  12.     highest priority event for a host/pool. This list is shown from
  13.     lowest to highest priority:
  14.  
  15.     + Green - OK
  16.     + White - Information
  17.     + Yellow - Warning
  18.     + Blue - Error
  19.     + Red - Severe
  20.  
  21.     See the "STATUS MAP" chapter in the Enlighten User Guide for a
  22.     description of the types of events which occur (acknowledged,
  23.     unacknowledged, cleared, and uncleared) and how the Status Map will
  24.     reflect these changes.

  26.     The rest of this section describes the basic functionality of the
  27.     main Status Map window.

  29.     Map Navigation
  30.  
  31.     Select an host or pool icon by clicking on it. All Enlighten Sys
  32.     Admin functions act upon any hosts selected in the Status Map. See
  33.     the "STATUS MAP" chapter in the Enlighten User Guide for more
  34.     details.

  36.     Map Editing
  37.  
  38.     You can perform various operations on an icon by positioning the
  39.     cursor over the desired icon and then using the right and/or left
  40.     mouse buttons.

  42.     Right Mouse Button
  43.  
  44.     Use the right mouse button while the cursor is over a host or pool
  45.     icon to pop up a menu to further manipulate that icon.
  46.  
  47.     The host pop-up menu offers the following choices:

  49.     + Host Overview
  50.     + Remove Host from Current Pool
  51.  
  52.     Select the Host Overview option to bring up the Host Overview
  53.     window. See "Host Overview" on page 11-6 for more details on how to
  54.     use this window. Select the Remove Host from Current Pool option to
  55.     delete the host from the current pool and thus remove the host icon
  56.     from the map (if you have the correct permissions to do so).

  58.     The pool pop-up menu offers the following choices:

  60.     + Zoom into Current Pool
  61.     + Delete Pool
  62.  
  63.     Select the Zoom into Current Pool option to view the contents of the
  64.     selected network pool.
  65.  
  66.     Select the Delete Pool option to delete the pool definition from
  67.     your list of configured pools. Enlighten will prompt you to confirm
  68.     this action.

  70.     Left Mouse Button
  71.  
  72.     Select a host or pool icon by left-clicking on it. You can also move
  73.     icons by clicking and dragging (if you have Modify permissions).
  74.  
  75.     You can view the contents of a pool by double-clicking on the pool
  76.     icon. The Status Map will be redrawn to represent the configuration
  77.     of the selected pool.

  79.     You can also bring up the Host Overview window for a host by
  80.     double-clicking on its icon. See "Host Overview" on page 11-6 for
  81.     more details on how to use this window.

  83.     Window Buttons
  84.  
  85.     This window contains the following buttons:
  86.  
  87.     Exception Pool
  88.  
  89.     Regular Pool
  90.  
  91.     You can use this button to switch the display from the Exception
  92.     Pool status icons to the Regular Pool status icons or vice-versa.
  93.  
  94.     An Exception Pool is a generic pool containing all the hosts which
  95.     generated an alarm through Events or Sys Admin. The Exception Pool
  96.     only shows unacknowledged events for those hosts. Each host icon
  97.     shown here will display its status as described in the "STATUS MAP"
  98.     chapter in the Enlighten User Guide.
  99.  
  100.     The Exception Pool toggle button always shows the most severe
  101.     exception (color) in its pool. You can click on the Exception Pool
  102.     option to display all the hosts in the Exception Pool on the Status
  103.     Map. The Exception Pool then becomes your current active pool.

  105.     Query Events
  106.  
  107.     You can click on this button to bring up the Query Event Messages
  108.     window and search for Events messages of a specific type. See "Query
  109.     Events" on page 11-10 for more details on how to use this window.

  112.     Acknowledge
  113.  
  114.     You can click on this button to acknowledge the unacknowledged
  115.     events for the selected host or for all hosts in the selected pool.
  116.     The flashing color of the icon will become a solid color, indicating
  117.     there are no longer any unacknowledged events associated with the
  118.     host(s). You can only execute this option if you have Modify
  119.     permissions.

  121.     Note: If you are in the Exception Pool and acknowledge events for a
  122.     host, the icon for that host will be removed from the Status Map
  123.     display.

  125.     Up A Level
  126.  
  127.     You can click on this button to traverse out of a sub-pool. This
  128.     action will reset the network map, placing you outside of the
  129.     sub-pool you are currently viewing. This is useful since Enlighten
  130.     has the ability to place pools inside of pools, creating many layers
  131.     of sub-pools.

  133.     Exception Mode
  134.  
  135.     You can use this toggle to switch the display mode for the Exception
  136.     Pool. The options are to show All exceptions in the Exception Pool
  137.     (the default) or to only show the ones Hidden from your current
  138.     point of view (those exceptions found in the pools in the level
  139.     above, below, or alongside the pool you're currently viewing).

  141.     Information Areas
  142.  
  143.     This window contains the following information areas: Pool
  144.     Hierarchy, Status Map, and Event Notification. See the "STATUS MAP"
  145.     chapter in the Enlighten User Guide for more details.
